Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Heather is a nationally recognized doula, educator, and trainer based in Calgary, Alberta. After attending the National Theatre School of Canada, she transitioned into birth work, training as a doula in 2008 and earning certifications as a birth doula (2009), postpartum doula (2010), Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (2011), and Certified Lactation Educator (2012). She is a DONA-Approved Birth Doula Trainer, and Lamaze Seminar Instructor. Heather holds Advanced Doula Status with DONA International—the first and only doula in Alberta, and fourth in Canada, to receive this distinction—and has attended more than 500 births. A sought-after international educator, she founded Doula Essentials Inc. to provide modern, elite Canadian-based training and certification. Heather lives in Calgary with her husband Chris, two large dogs, and one small cat.
